ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

How Do I Qualify to Take Career Technical Education Dual Credit Courses?


 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th graders are eligible to take CTE Dual Credit courses

✓  Have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average

✓  Incoming ninth grade students who do not have a GPA may enroll in one technical course per semester that does not have a placement requirement.

How Do I Qualify to Take General Education Dual Credit Courses?




 Be a high school junior or senior. Exceptions may be considered for freshman or sophomore students who meet qualifications.

Have qualifying academic scores through ACT, MAP or college placement testing.

Have a 2.5* cumulative high school grade point average (based on different pathways).

Be admitted to the participating postsecondary institution as a dual credit student.

Meet the requirements for placement into college credit-bearing courses or courses in programs of study that align to a career pathway.

Dual credit students must meet the CPE college readiness indicator appropriate for any course for which they enroll AND any course-specific requirements noted in the KCTCS course catalog. Students can use their unweighted GPA or an approved assessment, such as the ACT, to meet the enrollment requirements.
